Gabe Muoneke lets them.. have it!

Gabe Muoneke, the international basketball blogging sensation lets ASVEL have a little taste of their own medicine via his blog that is hosted on HoopsHype.com.

Muoneke was recently released by ASVEL who signed instead Amara Sy that played last season in Greece. In his blog he makes mention of his experience in France that as he describes it, was a soap-opera he was waiting to play itself out. Gabe Muoneke was hired by ASVEL Villeurbanne earlier this summer and it was a move that was hailed by many as the "colpo grosso" for Villeurbanne signing a player of vast experience and great skills that could've gone home with the ACB title last season. But the truth as Muoneke describes it was far from what was published by ASVEL.

He says it all had to do with the amount of money in his contract that he doesn't disclose but as many others told him, it was good to be true for the level of France's basketball salaries. Here are some of his words that describe the situation after ASVEL's first friendly game.

”After 10 minutes on the court and 4 points for yours truly, 25 team turnovers, a barrage of guys trying to make a name for themselves at the expense of your high-priced head and a 20+ point win (if you can believe it) by our team, I had to endure a five-minute tirade about how I thought I was a superstar. I was a bit taken aback because I had no idea where it came from. As I explained the issue to a friend who played for this team, all he said was, “Told you so, they’re looking for that way out.

A certainly interesting read that shows the hidden details that go on in the background of professional basketball in Europe.
